Terms of use

TL;DR: We work hard to make Haze useful and reliable, but it may not always be accurate or available.

We do not sell your personal data. Haze includes paid features managed through Apple’s App Store, and some data is stored with trusted infrastructure providers so the app can work.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using the Haze mobile application (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Haze provides estimated routing, travel progress information, trip tools, and related journey features for users. The App is intended for informational purposes only and is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or uninterrupted.

3. Third-Party Infrastructure

The App uses third-party services to operate, including but not limited to:

  • Supabase for authentication, database, and storage

  • Apple and Google services for maps, routing, and related location features

  • Apple Weather / WeatherKit for weather-related functionality

  • Eventric Master Tour for optional connected tour data

  • Analytics and crash-reporting providers, including Firebase

By using the App, you acknowledge that your data may be processed and stored by these providers, including outside your home country, subject to their own terms and privacy practices.

4. Data Collection and Use

We collect and use limited information needed to provide the App, including account details, profile information, subscription status, technical analytics, and certain trip-related data. Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.

5. User Accounts and Profile Content

You are responsible for information you provide in the App, including your name, display name, profile photo, and any other content you upload or submit.

You agree not to upload content that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, hateful, harassing, misleading, or otherwise inappropriate.

We may remove content, restrict access, suspend features, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App in a reasonable and lawful manner. You must not:

  • use the App in a way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the service or underlying infrastructure

  • create excessive, automated, or abusive usage patterns (including generating large volumes of trips, requests, or data) beyond normal personal use

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App, its systems, or related infrastructure

  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code or underlying logic of the App, except where permitted by law

  • bypass, disable, or interfere with security features or access controls

  • use the App for any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious purpose

  • use automated tools (bots, scripts, scrapers) to access or interact with the App without our permission

We reserve the right to monitor usage patterns and may suspend or restrict access where we reasonably believe usage is abusive, excessive, or in breach of these Terms.

7. Connected Services

The App may allow you to connect third-party services such as calendars or Eventric Master Tour.

Where supported by the App:

  • some connected data may remain on-device only

  • some connected data may be processed temporarily to provide App features

  • Master Tour API credentials entered into the App are stored locally in your device Keychain and are not uploaded to our servers

You are responsible for ensuring you have permission to use any third-party accounts or data you connect to Haze.

8. In-App Purchases, Subscriptions, and Billing

Some features of the App may require payment, including auto-renewable subscriptions (“Paid Features”), such as Haze+.

All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed through the applicable app platform, such as Apple’s App Store, and are subject to that platform’s terms, billing rules, and refund policies.

If you purchase a subscription:

  • the subscription may renew automatically unless cancelled before renewal through your Apple account settings

  • pricing, billing periods, trials, and renewal terms will be presented in the App and/or by the App Store at the time of purchase

  • we do not process your payment card directly

  • we may receive and process subscription status and transaction-related metadata to validate your entitlement to paid features

Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable through us. Refund requests, billing disputes, and subscription management are handled by the platform provider, such as Apple.

Deleting the App or deleting your Haze account does not automatically cancel your subscription. You must manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account settings.

9. Accuracy of Data

All App data, including times, routes, ETAs, weather information, venue information, and destination details, is approximate and may change. We make no warranty that information is current, accurate, complete, or suitable for your purpose.

10. No Safety-Critical Use

The App must not be relied upon for safety-critical, emergency, or life-protecting decisions. You use the App at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our affiliates, contractors, licensors, and service providers are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • missed trips, delays, or inaccurate information

  • lost income, lost work, or lost opportunities

  • data loss or service interruption

  • damage arising from third-party services or infrastructure failures

12. Account Closure and Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to all or part of the App if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue a feature or the App.

If your account is deleted:

  • your profile and account records may be deleted or anonymized subject to our legal obligations

  • certain operational, billing, fraud-prevention, backup, or legal records may be retained as required

  • deletion of your Haze account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the Effective Date when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without regard to conflict of law principles.
